Trip to OKC

We started out from Memphis at 6:30 a.m. knowing it was going to be at least 10 hrs of riding time to Oklahoma City. In addition, we heard that rain and storms were going to be through the area all day. Easy leaving TN as Memphis is only across the river from OK. First stop was Little Rock. Did I mention that Arkansas was probably one of the most boring rides as far as scenery? Next we stopped at a scenic overlook in Arkansas which was one of the nicer sceneries of the ride.  We met a guy Len and his wife who were coming back from eastern TN to their home in OKC. Nice folks. Next stop was around Fort Smith, AK where we had our convenience store lunch consisting of Slim Jim, Cheese Stick and a Clif Bar. Since Diane doesn't eat meat, she only had the Clif Bar and a soda. Next off to Oklahoma. We stopped at Brahms in Henryetta, OK for a quick frozen yogurt in a waffle cone. The funniest thing is that we ran into Len and his wife again there. Totally unplanned and random. 250 miles later and we run into each other at a small QSR. Got fuel and another local came over to us and warned not to get onto 40W since it was backed up for miles. We followed his advice which turned out to be correct. We beat the backup (constuction and trucks) and made great time to OKC. Sorry if the one video doesn't launch. It was a short video of us at the Memorial to the OKC Federal Building tragedy.

  1. I'm pretty sure Diane doesn't have to worry about eating meat when eating a Slim Jim.
