Sturgis, Deadwood and Mt. Rushmore

Today was an easier riding day as far as mile as we only did around 130. We started by touring Sturgis prior to the big rally. It's much quieter now than it will be in 2 weeks. From there went to Deadwood where we walked the downtown area for a while taking in the sites of wild west history from over 100 years ago. It's more of a tourist thing now especially after the HBO series.
Next on to the Crazy Horse memorial which really blew us away. On the ride over, a quick T-storm came through and dropped some hail on us. Only lasted about 10 minutes and was actually refreshing. The Crazy Horse museum was pretty awesome. We learned a lot from the initial movie they showed us. Lots of old artifacts and Indian arts & crafts.

Then it was over to Mount Rushmore. We'd only seen it in pictures and movies. Looks much nicer in person. I've included a lot of pictures that Diane took from the ride. Our internet connection speed is very slow so I'm not posting any videos. See if you can find the phallic symbol on one of the mountain pictures near Mt. Rushmore.  Then it was off to Rapid City for the night. Stuck in the hotel due to the severe thunderstorms going through the area. Tomorrow we're off to Sioux Falls.
