Trip from Monterey to Reno to Twin Falls

I didn't blog since our trip to Monterey which was memorable, yet very long and cold. Our trip out of Monterey was great. We set our first destination as Stockton, CA since this was the first big city on the way, plus they're famous for going bankrupt. When we got there, we couldn't find any place to eat which didn't have a hint of hispanic flavor. I like Mexican food, but Diane isn't as adventurous. We were looking for Charming---- home of Sons Of Anarchy. This ficticious town is supposed to exist somewhere between Stockton and Lodi. We went to Lodi and it looked much more like the town than we'd expected. We were able to find a nice place to eat at the Hollywood Cafe. This place looked a lot like the Midway Cafe we found on Rt 66 in Adrian,  TX, but this was less pretentious and more genuine. It exists all year long. Very friendly staff and very real people there. Old jukebox, Elvis Presley Blvd sign, pics of Marilyn, etc. From there we went to Sacramento and onto Reno. Hit by tons of crosswinds on the way which made the trip quite stressful. We had dinner at one of the best pizza places we'd been to----The Blind Onion. This was great. They had a braided crust which you dip into honey. We caught on quickly after seeing honey all over the place and seeing T-Shirts stating "show me the honey". The locals were really nice. Even one was from New Jersey and seemed upset at being relocated to Reno. Didn't go to any brothels or casinos even though we saw plenty.

The trip from Reno to Twin Falls was very stressful. Lots of mountains and crosswinds. Also lots of road repair and triple tandem trucks. Stopped in Winnemucca for gas and met up with a few other Harley riders on their way to Sturgis through Oregon. Also met a lady from Twin Falls going to Sacramento. Got a lot of riding advice. Stopped for lunch in Elko, NV and then went onto Twin Falls on Rt 93. Probably the most boring ride of the trip, but a least there was less crosswinds. The best time of Rt 93 was knowing we were close to Idaho. That would be Jackpot, NV which is below.
Arrived in Twin Falls and went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner where we met up with "J' the bartender and Hope the other bartender who gave us excellent advice on where to go in town and what to do. I also talked Diane into doing Patron shots with a lime. Excellent!! Tomorrow we going to Snake River Canyon, then Chicken Soup which is a Hot Springs part of the ride and finally on to Yellowstone Park Western Side.  After 471 miles logged for today, we had a great time.
